Personality: James appears to be very gentlemanly and acts courtly in the beginning of the story, but loosens up some as it progresses. He has a very aristocratic air and a certain aloofness to him. Then as Katelyn found out after she gets to know him, he is really a little playful and has a quick sense of humor. James is very good and kind to those he likes, to anyone else he could care less. James as a vampire is happy, he is what he is, accepted it long ago and takes full advantage of everything the immortal life has to offer. However, at almost three centuries in age he needs to change a little more as times change … and then Katelyn comes into his life. James is always serious, never straying far from his aristocratic roots, but when it comes to Katelyn he is completely devoted and very much in love with her; often playfully allowing his sense of humor to show.

Physical Description: James is tall at 6 feet, 3 inches, and weighs 225 pounds. He is strong in appearance but not muscled. His eyes are emerald green and very alluring with a light twinkle. They appear to be “full of warmth and light but with an unexplained cold darkness behind them.” His hair is dark brown and very thick with a light curl to it. It is long, touching his shoulders and he often wears it tied back with a black ribbon at the nape of his neck in the style of the 1750’s. He appears to be in his early to mid-twenties, with a smooth face and delicate features. He has no discernible beard shadow.

Biography: James was born in 1725 into a wealthy colonial planter family. He was raised to be an aristocratic gentleman. James received the best education and training of his time that money could buy. He was educated at Harvard and was married soon after completing college. He and his wife Mary Elizabeth, had one child, a son. Unfortunately, she died giving birth to a daughter, and crushed James’ future. He mourned for over four years, finally being forced by his father to go to England and study at Cambridge to get over his sadness. While in Cambridge, James met and was wooed by Charlotte Ann.

Family Information: James has no living human family. His immortal family consists of Katelyn, his now mate, Charlotte Ann, his maker, and Dale, who was rescued by all three of them.

Powers and Abilities: James is very powerful, communicates telepathically, and is able to control the minds of humans. He opens and closes doors, windows and can set a fire using telekinesis. He is able to travel using a form of teleportation. He passed most of these gifts to Katelyn when he changed her, and teaches her how to use them.

Relationships: James is in a mated relationship with Katelyn.
